I came to a creative career later in life. Having attended Croydon School of Art for my A-Levels, I switched to read history at university, and then worked in insurance for 25 years.
Moving to Lincolnshire from London in 2015, I soon swapped my silversmithing hobby for leatherwork which is now my main occupation.
My biggest sellers are keyrings, bags and wallets/cardholders.
I also love making decorative and costume pieces.
Working with customers to create bespoke items is always an interesting and rewarding activity.
All history, especially viking and medieval, and the vibrant Steampunk community in Lincolnshire provide me with a great deal of ideas.
I am also inspired by the individuality of each hide, the unique temper and natural markings of each piece which can be showcased in a finished product.
I work at home (Thorpe on the Hill, just outside Lincoln) in a small workshop in the garden with the radio for company (the dog is banned because he sheds hair and tries to eat the goat leather).
I usually have several projects on the go at any one time. In addition to cutting, punching and stitching by hand, I also enjoy hand dyeing natural leather to create different effects.
